Tribhuvan University (TU), which was established in 1959, is the first national institution of higher education in Nepal. Tribhuvan University is a publicic univeristy in Kritipur, Kathmandu, Nepal. TU is the oldest university in Nepal. In terms of enrollment, it is the ninth largest university in the world. The university offers 2,079 undergraduate and 2,000 postgraduate programs across a wide range of disciplines. As of September 2014, the university has 88 constituent camuses and 1,033 affiliated colleges across the country. Since it is government financed, it is less expensive than private universities.

 After the second democratic movement of 2006, the Prime Minister of Nepal is the ceremonial chief, the Chancellor of the University, whereas the Minister of Education is the Pro-Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the university. He is assisted by the Rector in academic programs and the Registrar in financial management and general administration. Tribhuvan University is a non-profit making autonomous institution funded by the Government of Nepal. On January 8, 8, 2013, the government of Nepal has principally agreed to declare Tribhuvan University as the Central University.

Entrance Information for IOM

  • IOM conducts an entrance examination usually in the month of September each year. 100 objective questions 1 mark each are asked in entrance examination which lasts 2 hour.
